Staff Writer

Laura Melgão is a 27-year-old woman who still reads - and loves! - YA books. Feminist, sensible and an introvert by nature, she found an escape in books soon after she learned how to read. One of her recently found aims is to write to others about literature - simply what makes her world go round.

Following my book recommendations for all introverts, this time let’s talk about romance. After all, what introvert doesn’t like to get cozy in the sofa and read a good romance? Here are 8 romance books for every Introverted Myers-Briggs Type.

ISTJ (Introversion + Sensing + Thinking + Judging): The Logistician Personality

The Vow by Kim & Krickitt CarpenterThe Vow by Kim Carpenter, Krickitt Carpenter, John R. Perry

ISTJs need pragmatism in their lives. They take their tasks very seriously and inevitably roll their eyes at clichés or any other thing that is not facts or figures. The Vow is a nonfiction book about two married people who had to start their lives all over again. After a car accident, Krickitt has a massive head injury that puts her in a coma for two months. When she wakes up, she doesn’t recognize her husband, Kim. Based on true events, this is a story on a real romance and about real dedication to another person.

This is a historical romance set during the American Civil War. The protagonist, Elle Burns, is a former slave with a strong sense of justice who trades freedom for slavery to spy for the Union Army. INFJs’ inborn sense of idealism and morality will allow them to relate to this strong heroine. On the other hand, there is Malcolm McCall, another undercover agent who shares a cause with Elle. ISTP (Introversion + Sensing + Thinking + Perceiving): The Virtuoso Personality

One Day by David Nicholls

Virtuosos will like a story that is realistic. So, let’s cut all the hearts and flowers. Can we talk about a book that portrays love in a realistic, nonsensical way? One Day tells the story of Emma and Dexter’s relationship over two decades. The encounters, the misfortunes, the wrong timing—they’re always in each other’s lives but keep ending up with the wrong people. If this is not the accurate description of a real-life relationship, I don’t know what is.
