A More Beautiful Question by Warren Berger was a book about curiosity before books about curiosity were all the rage. Berger posits that asking better questions is the key to having better ideas in business and in life, and he has a lot of tips—backed up by social science and real-life case studies—to help readers cultivate skillful inquiry. A special tenth-anniversary edition hits shelves in February.

Briefly, Perfectly Human by Alua Arthur: If you’ve never heard of a death doula, it is exactly what it sounds like: a person who helps you navigate end-of-life matters, from the logistical to the spiritual and everything in between. Billed as “the country’s leading death doula,” Arthur has supported thousands of individuals and their families through the dying process. Here, she offers advice and philosophical framework for approaching life’s final questions. Coming April 16.

Be a Revolution by Ijeoma Oluo: No time like an election year for thinking about how you participate in the systems that structure our lives and our societies. As the subtitle promises, activist and writer Oluo explores “how everyday people are fighting oppression and changing the world—and how you can, too.” And if taking down a whole system sounds intimidating, fear not. Oluo identifies small actions that can lead to big changes and suggests easy entry points for getting involved in issues close to home. Available now.

The Fun Habit by Mike Rucker: If you’ve found yourself simultaneously longing to have more fun and confused about what that would even look like, you are not alone. Lucky for all of us, Mike Rucker, an organizational psychologist and behavioral scientist, has arrived with actionable, data-backed advice for how to make it happen. Available now.

Come Together by Emily Nagoski Ph.D.: Keep it spicy with this guide to building and maintaining sexual connection in long-term relationships. Nagoski, whose groundbreaking book Comes As You Are changed the way we understand women’s sexuality, returns with a look at philosophies and practices that can help couples prevent dry spells and handle them when they do happen. And she knows of what she speaks! In a recent NYT profile, Nagoski shared that the inspiration for this book started in her own marriage. Nagoski also has a terrific Substack where you can read an excerpt. Available now. Related: Sex Talks by Vanessa Marin, about five conversations to shape your sex life, is freshly available in paperback.

The Drama Free Workbook by Nedra Glover Tawwab: I’ve written before about Tawwab’s excellent book on boundaries. This workbook builds on her follow-up offering and is all about understanding and navigating dysfunctional relationship dynamics. It’s specifically positioned around family dynamics, but Tawwab’s tips are always widely applicable. Coming February 20.

The Other Significant Others by Rhaina Cohen: Speaking of complex dynamics! Romantic relationships bear a lot of weight in how contemporary society is put together, and the expectation that one’s romantic partner will meet all of their needs causes all kinds of undue stress. Cohen profiles people who have chosen friends, rather than lovers, as their life partners as she invites us to consider what other paradigms for arranging our lives could look like. More like this, please! Coming February 13.

Timeboxing by Marc Zao-Sanders: I’m sure I don’t need to tell you that multitasking is inefficient and bad for our brains. In 2024, we all know that we should really be doing one thing at a time. But how?! Zao-Sanders presents practical how-tos for figuring out what to do, when to do it, and how to stay focused in the process. Coming March 19.
