I send monthly updates on the what-nots and whatevers of Book Riot to our contributors and I recently had a light bulb moment: our readers would probably appreciate something like that. Therefore, I present unto my bookish brethren a monthly letter from the editor (that’s me), wherein I’ll gab about news you need, posts I’ve loved, books I’m reading, and whatever else catches my fancy:

Everything I’m reading these days is for Best Translated Book Award 2016 consideration, and man has it been an adventure. I’m knee-deep in Clarice Lispector’s Complete Stories. Yuri Herrera’s Signs Preceding the End of the World is everything I want when I read Cormac McCarthy, but don’t get. I’ve just started Sphinx by Anne Garreta, an experimental French novel from 1986 that tells a love story without the use of gender markers. Too soon for a verdict on that one, but I’m enjoying the ride.
