In time for the holidays and to celebrate the movie’s thirtieth anniversary, The Princess Bride is getting the deluxe treatment with a stunning package no fan will be able to resist.

I cannot tell you how many times I’ve watched the movie The Princess Bride. It’s just one of those films I can watch on loop (while screaming lines at the screen). And when, as a teen, I found out that the story also came in book format? Mind blown. I treasured my copy, I read and re-read passages, in my head I heard Peter Falk as the narrator. I feel like I’ve always been in search of something to fill the hole Goldman’s tale of love, adventure, and hilarity left in me.

We asked you to tell us your favorite scenes in The Princess Bride and you responded. Here are 28 of your favorites!

  1. The Final Kiss scene, from when the grandson shyly says it’s okay to read it, to the description, to the actual kiss (sigh).
  2. When she realizes he is Westley and they roll down the hill
  3. This is an extremely difficult question for I have many beloved scenes. The first one that I envisioned, however, was the Miracle Max visit.
  4. The battle of wits!
  5. The duel between Inigo and The Dread Pirate Roberts
  6. He’s on the brute squad. He is the brute squad. (Miracle Max)
  7. When Inigo and Fezzik take Westley to Miracle Max due to him being “mostly” dead.
  8. “My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die!”
  9. Mawwaige is what brings us today. Mawwaige that blessed arrangement, that dream within a dream.
  10. ROUS / Fire Swamp
  11. Life is pain princess, anyone who says differently is selling something.
  • I’m also very partial to the Zoo of Death.
    I don’t have a favorite scene.
  • Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line!
  • Have fun storming the castle
  • In the movie, my favorite part is Westley’s bluff (from bed) in which he threatens Humperdinck and challenges him “to the pain.” In the book, I liked best the parts that tell of Fezzik’s life before he met Vizzini.
  • One of my favorite scenes has to be with Miracle Max extending all the way to the parapet where Westley wakes up. The dialogue is so fast and hilarious!
  • When you first see how much Inigo cares for Fezzik and they are rhyming on the ship. Then Vizzini shouts, “No more rhyming and I mean it!” To which Fezzik replies, “Anybody want a pea-NUT?”
  • “I will never doubt you again.” “There will never be a need.”
  • I love the beginning sequence where you watch Buttercup slowly falls for Westley. It’s incredibly romantic how he waited for her to feel the same. I still get goosebumps when he says “As you wish.”
  • It’s really hard to pick a favorite part because I love the movie so much but one of my most favorite parts is when Inigo Montoya sees the six fingered man and follows him while repeating “My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father prepare to die.” And finally gets justice for his fathers death.
  • Billy Crystal & Carol Kane are without a doubt the best part of Princess Bride
  • Inigo’s face after hearing the line “get used to disappointment.” It’s the perfect end to that great exchange that started with Westley’s climb up the cliffs of insanity- a little bit philosophical, a little bit ‘eh, fuck it’ and a little bit ‘okay, bring it.’
  • Any scene with Andre the Giant
  • When Inigo kills the six-fingered man and says “I want my father back you son of a bitch.” This scene resonates with me so much more since losing my father. Prior to losing my dad, when Peter Faulk is leaving his grandsons room and says “As you wish.”
  • “Rubbish, filth, slime, muck, boo! Boo! Booooooo!”
  • When Westley outsmarted the prince
  • “To the pain,” it’s brilliant and hilariously simple
  • When Wesley takes on Fezzik. Actually any scene at all with Fezzik… “hello, lady!”
