She’s never met a beach she didn’t like, always says yes to dessert, loves ‘80s nostalgia, all forms of entertainment, and can hold a conversation using only gifs. You can definitely talk books with her on Litsy and Goodreads. Depending on social media’s stability maybe also Twitter and Bluesky.

The difference between what Hillary Clinton experienced during the 2016 presidential campaign and what women experience every day is: the sexism and misogyny she experienced was shown on a world stage. You needed only turn on your TV, read an article, and look at your FB/Twitter feed to see the sexism and misogyny oozing from all directions. It knows no party. So Hillary Clinton saying in her upcoming book What Happened that her “skin crawled” when Donald Trump followed her around during the second Presidential debate in 2016 is completely unsurprising. It’s how I felt watching from the safety of my home. You’d be hard pressed to find a girl/woman who doesn’t understand what it’s like to have our personal space intentionally invaded by a boy/man. You’d also be hard pressed to find a girl/woman who doesn’t automatically run through the options of what they can do vs what the consequences will be because of how our society views and treats women.

“I chose option A. I kept my cool, aided by a lifetime of dealing with difficult men trying to throw me off. I did, however, grip the microphone extra hard,” she wrote. “I wonder, though, whether I should have chosen option B. It certainly would have been better TV. Maybe I have overlearned the lesson of staying calm, biting my tongue, digging my fingernails into a clenched fist, smiling all the while, determined to present a composed face to the world.” via Politico: Clinton says her ‘skin crawled’ from Trump’s looming behavior at debate

The political campaign and what happened during and since goes far beyond political parties and government: it is shinning a gigantic light on our society and all the ills women, POC, and marginalized voices have been pointing out for forever while being ignored. I hope people can put aside their email and economic anxiety to read a historically important memoir, and then get to work in resisting.
