YA Books and Teas You Should Pair Them With

Books and tea tend to go hand-in-hand. There’s nothing better than a nice, hot cup of tea as you sink your teeth into a new novel. Or a shiny new book as you take a sip from a big mug of tea. Whichever is your priority—tea or books—they seriously complement each other. So here are a few YA books and teas that you can pair them with, to help you get the best reading experience possible:

Chamomile and Honey—They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera

From the title, and the fact that it’s an Adam Silvera book, you might think They Both Die at the End is utterly depressing. But I was pleasantly surprised by how heartwarming of a book it really was. Sure, it’s sad. But it’s a slow, gentle kind of sad, mixed with a lot of warmth. Which is exactly what Chamomile and honey tea embodies to me. And it’ll certainly help you hold on to that warmth.

 

Lemon and Ginger—Love, Hate, and Other Filters by Samira Ahmed

In my household, we make lemon and ginger tea really strong—as the cure for a sore throat. Maya, as a character, is totally reminiscent of the strength of lemon and ginger tea. She has a lot of strength in managing her struggles in this book. Whether it’s her strict parents, the way she handles relationships or even the way she handles Islamophobia.

Earl Grey—Meant to Be by Lauren Morrill

Earl Grey is a totally English tea. So it should be no surprise that it pairs well with Meant to Be, a book that has the main characters running around London, getting up to shenanigans, and falling in love.

 

Very Berry—Kissing Ted Callahan by Amy Spalding

Kissing Ted Callahan is an adorable book. It’ll have your cheeks hurting from smiling, and also probably from laughing. Which is why Very Berry tea is the perfect companion. A combination of various different berries, Very Berry is incredibly sweet. The perfect complement to an equally sweet book.

This one’s kind of a no-brainer. The cover of When Dimple Met Rishi sports Dimple Shah with a Starbucks iced coffee cup. And considering events of the book, the iced coffee comes to be a part of Dimple and Rishi’s ‘meet-cute,’ if you can call it that. But for all of us who prefer tea over coffee? I think iced-tea can make the perfect substitute! Iced tea is also the perfect embodiment of summer and considering When Dimple Met Rishi is a total summer book, it’s the perfect beverage!
