I’ve mostly focused on new trans romances that came out in the last year or are coming out later in 2025, but I also threw in a couple bonus not-so-new romances. This is a mix of YA and adult romances. Let me know in the comment which trans romance books you recommend!

Also, as a bonus for All Access members, I have a list of 17 new LGBTQ books out this week at the end.

Now, let’s get into the trans romance books!

cover of The Prospects by KT Hoffman

The Prospects by KT Hoffman

In KT Hoffman’s The Prospects, readers meet Gene Ionescu, the first openly trans professional baseball player. Gene is finally hitting his stride on his minor league team, the Beaverton Beavers, when his biggest rival is traded to his team. But the electric tension between Gene and Luis slowly turns into the kind of chemistry that can help them win big time — on the field and off. It’s a joy-filled romance sure to have baseball fans and sport-hating readers cheering wholeheartedly for the Beavers. —Susie Dumond

Make Room for Love cover

Make Room for Love by Darcy Liao

Y’all. This cover. I honestly don’t even care what this book is about because I want it just as a trophy. But it doesn’t matter, because the plot! The PLOT! Mira, a trans woman who is pretty sure she’s only into men, winds up staying with a gorgeous butch named Isabel after an incident with her ex in a club. The pair make great roommates, but Mira doesn’t understand what these feelings are that she’s developing for Isabel. And she really doesn’t want to get hurt again. I love a good roommates slow-burn! —Jessica Pryde

I Shall Never Fall in Love by Hari Conner

For a queer regency romantic YA romp, check out Hari Conner’s I Shall Never Fall in Love. George is trying to explore their nonbinary identity in a society that loves binaries. Eleanor is falling in love with George while also trying to find her own path through societal expectations. Meanwhile, Eleanor’s cousin Charlotte faces a difficult decision about marrying for security and status or marrying for love. Drawing inspiration from the works of Jane Austen, it’s a delightful historical graphic novel with a cast you can’t help but fall in love with. —Susie Dumond

In Case You Read This cover

In Case You Read This by Edward Underhill (May 20, 2025)

In this YA romcom, two teen trans guys meet in the lobby of a motel in Nebraska. Arden is reluctantly moving with his family from Los Angeles to Winifred, Michigan, where he worries about losing queer community and support. Gabe is excited to relocate from small town Shelby, Illinois, to the city of Pasadena, California. During the one evening their paths intersect, Arden and Gabe form an unforgettable connection — but they leave only knowing each other’s first names. Can they find their way back to each other?

And They Were Roommates cover

And They Were Roommates by Page Powars (May 27, 2025)

From the author of The Borrow a Boyfriend Club comes a second chance YA romcom. Charlie starts at Valentine Academy for Boys, determined to fly under the radar as the school’s only trans student. But then, disaster strikes: he’s placed with Jasper as his roommate: his ex-boyfriend, who broke his heart a year before he transitioned. Only…Jasper doesn’t recognize him. Charlie has a plan to get the room to himself before Jasper connects the dots, but it involves writing love letters with Jasper to other students. What could go wrong?

The Build-A-Boyfriend Project by Mason Deaver (August 5, 2025)

The author of I Wish You All the Best, among many others, is back with a new trans adult romance. Eli is stuck in an assistant job at an online magazine when he wants to be a writer. After he goes on a disastrous first date with Peter, his boss suggests Eli teach Peter how to be a boyfriend in a series of fake dates so he can write about it. Eli has a plan to make this into a much more interesting article, but as he fake dates Peter, he begins to fall for him.

Bonus Not-So-New Trans Romances:

Meet Cute Diary by Emery Lee

This is an adorable romance novel with a queer, trans main character who runs a blog called Meet Cute Diary, where trans people share their sweet meet cutes — except that he actually makes them all up himself. When his blog begins to lose credibility, he starts a fake relationship to try to bolster it. But real dating turns out to be a little more messy than the neat fictional versions he’s used to.

There’s also a nonbinary character who experiments with pronouns and immediately steals the show (for me).

Drag Me Up by R. M. Virtues

Let’s welcome our king and queen of the Underworld, who kick off this fascinating new series that will live in our minds rent-free. RM Virtues enchants you with the luscious and glamorous world of myths and legends. Hades, a mysterious figure who lives in the shadows of Casino Asphodel, and Persephone, the new star in Calliope’s Cirque production, are ready to make you fall completely in love with their seductive love story. Drag Me Up is a trans Black romance with passion and steam all wrapped up together in a tight little bow. You really don’t want to miss it. —Silvana Reyes Lopez
