Since 2008, Teresa Preston has been blogging about all the books she reads at Shelf Love. She supports her book habit by working as a magazine editor at a professional association in the Washington, DC, area, which is (in)conveniently located just a few steps from a used bookstore. When she’s not reading or editing, she’s likely to be attending theatre, practicing yoga, watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer again, or doting on her toothless orange cat, Anya. Twitter: @teresareads

The cinematic battle between the Losers’ Club and Pennywise that began with this summer’s hit adaptation of Stephen King’s It isn’t over. Fans of the novel already know that the kids who first met Pennywise in their youth returned to Derry years later to face him again. And now we can all mark our calendars for that second showdown with an It movie sequel, coming September 6, 2019.

It Movie Sequel Announcement | BookRiot.com

The It movie sequel will focus on the characters as adults but will include flashbacks that feature the actors from the 2017 film.

A previous story from Entertainment Weekly delves into some of the plans for the upcoming film, which includes a darker arc for Mike Hanlon, the lone black member of the Losers’ Club who grows up to be Derry’s librarian and keeper of the truth about the evil lurking in Derry. (Mike is my favorite character from the novel, so I’m skeptical about this plan.)

Will you be coming back to Derry in 2019? What are you looking forward to about the It movie sequel?
