Jessica Pryde is a member of that (some might call) rare breed that grew up in Washington, DC, but is happily enjoying the warmer weather of the desert Southwest. While she is still working on what she wants to be when she grows up, she’s enjoying dabbling in librarianship and writing all the things. She can be found drowning in her ever-growing TBR and exclaiming about romance in the Book Riot podcast (When in Romance), as well as on social media. Find her exclamations about books and pho on twitter (JessIsReading) and instagram (jess_is_reading).

EL James is officially releasing a new book! This is the first she’s published that has nothing to do with Christian and Anastasia Grey, which was released in six books over eight years from two different perspectives. This one is called The Mister.

But of course, James hasn’t strayed far from the style of contemporary romance she’s known for. Here’s the current blurb:

London, 2019. Life has been easy for Maxim Trevelyan. With his good looks, aristocratic connections, and money, he’s never had to work and he’s rarely slept alone. But all that changes when tragedy strikes and Maxim inherits his family’s noble title, wealth, and estates, and all the responsibility that entails. It’s a role he’s not prepared for and one that he struggles to face.

But his biggest challenge is fighting his desire for an unexpected, enigmatic young woman who’s recently arrived in England, possessing little more than a dangerous and troublesome past.  Reticent, beautiful, and musically gifted, she’s an alluring mystery, and Maxim’s longing for her deepens into a passion that he’s never experienced and dares not name. Just who is Alessia Demachi? Can Maxim protect her from the malevolence that threatens her? And what will she do when she learns that he’s been hiding secrets of his own?

From the heart of London through wild, rural Cornwall to the bleak, forbidding beauty of the Balkans, THE MISTER is a roller-coaster ride of danger and desire that leaves the reader breathless to the very last page.

The book is set to release on April 16, and I’m looking forward to seeing what the author can do without the shock-factor of introducing a whole lot of people to BDSM.

The book isn’t available to add on Goodreads or even listed for pre-order or Amazon, but we’ll keep you posted as we learn more. Meanwhile, I’m gonna just enjoy staring at this cover for the next few months.
