Friday Open Thread: December 6, 2013

It’s been a while since we did open threads, so we thought we’d bring ’em back and see what y’all feel like talking about. There’s been a lot to choose from lately! Amazon announced its octocopters/drones/crazy delivery robots from the future, and the end-of-year Best Books season is in full swing. Catching Fire just came out, and The Hobbit part 2 is coming soon, and, well, there’s never really a shortage of bookish news to discuss. So we’re turning this one over to you.
