Cool Bookish Places: Kid Republic4
Last week, I found what I thought might be the coolest kids’ bookstore in the world. Come to find out, it might not even been the coolest kids’ bookstore in China.
SAKO Architects, the designer of Kid Republic in Beijing, designed another branch of store in Shanghai, and I think it might be even more interesting than the original. Kid Republic4 takes the idea of a treehouse and deconstructs into a library, with tables, walls, and even a reading hut that feel like pieces of a giant, bookish tree. (And while the bathroom doesn’t follow the arboreal theme, it still has to be one of the more amazing bathrooms for kids ever designed). Now, someone just needs to commission SAKO for a bookstore here in the US….
