The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis were a staple of my childhood. My mom read The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe to me and my sister out loud, and I read and reread many books from the series over the next decade. I didn’t notice any of the Christian undertones in the stories, which I now find hilarious. Mostly, I obsessed over the world-building and the dynamics between the four Pevensie siblings. I wanted to be a Susan, wanted people to think of me as a Lucy, and was probably more of an Edmund than I wanted to admit at the time.
