10 New Nonfiction Book Releases of February 2025
In celebration of true stories, I’ve collected ten of some of the most exciting nonfiction titles hitting shelves in February. You might be new to nonfiction or a true stories pro, but whatever the case, there’s sure to be something on this list that catches your eye.
Black Literary Movements
Looking back through the different eras of Black writing, you could say that trends in Black writing have mirrored social movements. You could also say that Black writing wrote into those movements, giving them form and momentum.
No matter what, though, it’s clear that through the writing of resistance, self-definition, and activism, we’ve been able to write our own narrative. Our own origin story.

Recent and Upcoming Thoughtful Books About Gender

These thoughtful books about gender are an important reminder that our education on gender is never over, and there’s always a new perspective to explore.

I love browsing through them, looking for ideas for new recipes, and immersing myself in the world of good food. One of my most recommended cookbooks of all time is Simply Julia by Julia Turshen. So when I heard Turshen has a new cookbook coming out, I knew I had to pick it up.
Four More Books Banned Statewide in South Carolina Public Schools
This week began with news of two more books being banned statewide from all public schools in Utah. The week now continues with an update from South Carolina, where four books have been added to a state-sanctioned book ban list. Copies of the four books must be removed from every public school library statewide.
