The Crooked Little Pieces is the first literary saga crafted in the television series format. It’s a surreal soap opera, a gallery of love stories, an ode to creatures rarely understood.

London, 1926. Professor Josef van der Holt moves his twin daughters Anneliese and Isabel from their beloved home of Zurich to the stuffy city. When tragedy upturns the sisters' worlds their characters grow ever more apart – secluding them as they pursue contrasting lives.

Anneliese's path as a psychiatrist escorts her to a world of danger – plunging her almost head-first in a criminal underground. Reluctantly (but not so much) she turns into a sleuth.

Isabel becomes a head of music at a girls' school – eventually finding her true self… but has a nasty habit of selecting the wrong men.

The gift of love doesn't come lightly – largely due to stubbornness and self-denial.

    Sophia Lambton became a professional classical music critic at the age of seventeen when she began writing for Musical Opinion, Britain's oldest music magazine. Since then she has contributed to The Guardian, Bachtrack, musicOMH, BroadwayWorld, BBC Music Magazine and OperaWire, and conducted operatic research around the world for The Callas Imprint: A Centennial Biography, which was published to coincide with the soprano's one hundredth birthday in December 2023. It is the winner of the 2024 ARSC Award for Historical Research in Recorded Classical Music.

    Crepuscular Musings – Lambton’s cultural Substack - comprises classical music and opera reviews that seek to capture the ephemeral escapism of live performance.

    The first four volumes of The Crooked Little Pieces - her first literary saga - came out between May 2022 and September 2024.

    Currently she's on the third part of her second.
