8 More Podcasts for Poetry Lovers
It’s National Poetry Month again, and it’s been three years since I published my first list of podcasts for poetry lovers. Since then, I’ve discovered a few new shows that you’ll definitely want to add to your regular podcast rotation.
The Poetry Exchange
This lovely podcast invites each guest to have a conversation about a poem “that has been a friend to them.” Then the hosts gift the guest with a unique recording of the poem they chose.

The latest addition to the Poetry Foundation’s impressive lineup of podcast programming, VS is “a bi-weekly series where poets confront the ideas that move them,” hosted by the inimitable duo, Danez Smith and Franny Choi.
The Slowdown
Hosted by U.S. Poet Laureate Tracy K. Smith and produced in partnership with the Library of Congress and the Poetry Foundation, this podcast offers a new five-minute poem reading every weekday.

Produced by the 100-plus-year-old society it derives its name from, this podcast alternates between short poetry readings and long interviews with poets, with a few poetry reviews and other content mixed in to keep things interesting.

Like the title says, this podcast features interesting people—composers, journalists, novelists, playwrights, chefs, DJs, comedians, scientists, activists, and other luminaries—reading their favorite poem and talking about what it means to them.

If you want to expand your reading of classic poetry, this podcast is what you’re looking for. It posts one reading of essential poetry every weekday.

This unique podcast dispatches a team of poetry from Nashville Public Radio to neighborhoods and community events where they invite people to share a story from their life. The poet then turns that story into a poem on the spot.
