Pinterest Reveals Gen Z’s Bookish Interests This Summer
Pinterest, a leading social media-meets-bookmarking site, released their latest seasonal report on trends they’re seeing among their users. The Summer 2025 report zooms in on the things that Generation Z–those born between about 1997 and 2010–are looking for and interested in across the site.
While many may see Pinterest trends falling into categories such as home decor, personal style, or recipe saving, this year’s trends report highlights something else, too: Generation Z has a keen interest on books and reading. The report notes that users are searching for ideas related to offline entertainment this summer, as well as leaning into astrologically-inspired and 2015-inspired aesthetics.
Among the top interests for Generation Z this summer? Reading retreats and book clubs.
Searches for reading retreats are up across the site, with young adult users specifically homing in on ways to practice mindfulness and mental relaxation. The term “book retreat” saw an increase of 103% in searches, with similar topics like “book club retreat ideas,” “holiday book,” “my book aesthetic,” “summer romance books,” and “roadtrip book” up in interest 265%, 148%, 709%, 51%, and 64% respectively.
Pinterest notes that young adults are also looking into new hobbies, so it should be of little surprise that among those are book clubs. Among the top searches for the season? Book club crafts (up 558%), book club invitations (up 173%), book club hosting (up 87%), book club decor (up 67%), book club themes (up 65%), book club snacks (up 48%), and book club stickers (up 243%).
