One Reader’s GIF Response to Ms. Marvel #17

Jenn Northington

Director, Editorial Operations

Jenn Northington has worked in the publishing industry wearing various hats since 2004, including bookseller and events director, and is currently Director of Editorial Operations at Riot New Media Group. You can hear her on the SFF Yeah! podcast nerding out about sci-fi and fantasy. When she’s not working, she’s most likely gardening, running, or (obviously) reading. Find her on Tumblr at jennIRL and Instagram at iamjennIRL.

Like many others in the Kamala Korps, I had been anxiously awaiting Ms. Marvel #17. Finally, we would get the Carol and Kamala team-up we’d been waiting, hoping, yearning for! Plus something something Secret Wars, whatever — give me this team-up and I almost don’t care what plotline you’re working with. OR SO I THOUGHT. Now, I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone who hasn’t read it yet or is waiting for the trade, but I have a LOT OF FEELINGS about this issue. So, rather than words, I give you my response to (as non-spoilery as possible) moments in GIFs.

Enter Carol Danvers:

YES. IT’S ALL HAPPENING.

Marvel Corps Bonding Time!:

Look at them bonding! And talking! And being friennnnnddddds!

That Random Pig (Shout out to Adrian Alphona):

Seriously, did you see the guy carrying around the pig?!

THE KITTENS:

Ded. I am writing this from beyond the grave.

So. Many. Feelings.

The Fight Scene:

This is almost exactly what happens in this issue.

The Cliffhanger On the Last Page:

No seriously, WHAT?!

WHAT IS HAPPENING

Why, G. Willow??!! WHY???

No really, I need another IMMEDIATELY.

… to know WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

But there is a light at the end of the tunnel of cliffhanger despair (what is even happening to my metaphors, let’s just go with it) — Ms. Marvel #18 comes out on August 12! We just have to make it til next Wednesday. I believe in us, Kamala Korps. We can do it.

KORPS HUG.
