Our daily round-up of news around the comics space, from the gutters and beyond.

“Mike Swensen of Bismark, ND’s Juke Joint Comics who estimates that the sales of DC comics at his store are down by roughly 40%!  And while Swensen is strictly speaking on behalf of his store, it can’t be a fluke and one could reasonably assume that other stores nationwide may be seeing similar drops in DC Comics sales.”

While I don’t want to read too much into/generalize one store’s experiences, this is telling. I personally am not an “event” fan and will be waiting until the dust settles to pick up more DC titles.

“If Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice can claim anything this far ahead of its release, it’s sparking a new trend: that of cinematic superheroes following their comic book brethren and beating the hell out of each other.”

I don’t love superhero pitted against superhero, so I hope this doesn’t become a regular thing (I say with Civil War looming ominously.)

“On Friday morning, Hasbro announced their plan to create a brand new Transformers crew featuring only female bots.”

Yes.
