Abby Hargreaves is a New Hampshire native living and working as a Children’s Librarian in Washington, D.C. Her MLIS degree enjoys the company of a BA in English from Hollins University, making Abby an advocate of women's universities. Her favorite color is yellow.

Bridge of Clay by Markus Zusak

Giving cause for fans of The Book Thief to celebrate today was The New York Times, which reported the author of the immensely popular novel, Markus Zusak, would publish his first book in thirteen years, Bridge of Clay, with Alfred A. Knopf. With multiple awards to his name, the Australian author is facing plenty of anticipation for this upcoming novel about five brothers raising themselves and discovering the secrets of their father’s mysterious disappearance.

The Times reports Zusak first thought of the idea for Bridge of Clay at age nineteen. After years of false starts and struggles in executing the novel, things finally came together with the help of his wife in June 2016. Zusak shared news of the book’s release on his Instagram with a simple and powerful image of the manuscript.

The book will be available in hardcover, ebook, and audiobook with a release date of October 9, 2018. The first print will supply 500,000 copies in the U.S. Furthermore, Zusak will tour twelve cities in the United States and participate in a special sweepstakes enabling book clubs to connect with Zusak. The author will sign a portion of first editions, available while supplies last.
