Deepali Agarwal has a Master’s in literary linguistics, which means that every person she’s ever known has, at some point, asked her to ‘edit a thing’ for them-- ‘just see if it reads okay?’ She doesn’t mind, because she believes that the world can be fixed one oxford comma at a time. Deepali lives in Delhi, the capital of India, where cows are sacred, but authors and poets exist and write brilliant things. She works as an editor with OUP India’s School ELT division, where she moves apostrophes, looks up pictures of cats, and talks about children’s books for eight hours. The rest of her day is spent reading, thinking about Parks and Recreation, and wondering if there exist jobs for English majors that pay more than peanuts. Twitter: @DeepaliAgarwal_

It’s real, it’s happening, and it’ll probably be the most talked about book in 2019! Margaret Atwood has announced a sequel to her iconic dystopian novel. Titled The Testaments, the sequel will be narrated by three female characters and will be set 15 years after the last scene of The Handmaid’s Tale

This news comes to us after Hulu’s adaptation of The Handmaid’s Tale has already run for two seasons, and is now off book, with a third season in the works. I’m excited to know if the two timelines will now overlap and create a complex story, since the TV show already uses flashbacks in its narrative.

The novel will be published worldwide by Penguin Random House in September 2019, and is already up for pre-orders here. Here is her official announcement on Twitter with a video teaser:
