Salary: Portland, OR – $93,732 USD; Vancouver, BC – $107,820 CAD; work-from-home jurisdiction salary adjusted for local cost of living

Job Description

Riot New Media Group is looking for an experienced and passionate Full Stack Web Engineer to join our Dev Ops team! This role is responsible for both back-end and front-end development, including creating WordPress themes and plugins, as well as maintenance of existing production web services.

We are expecting you to have a strong understanding of the latest industry trends and content management systems, as well as strong experience with WordPress development.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Designing and implementing new custom features and functionality
  • Establishing and guiding the website’s architecture and long-term viability
  • Ensuring high-performance and availability, and managing all technical aspects of the CMS
  • Helping formulate an effective, responsive design and turning it into a working theme and plugin

Candidates must also have the ability to give and receive candid feedback, practice flexibility and adaptability as company processes evolve, and exhibit resourcefulness and problem-solving skills

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Proficiency with WordPress- knowledge of themes, plugins, hooks, filters
  • Proficiency with front-end technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript
  • Experience building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications
  • Experience designing and developing responsive design websites
  • Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working HTML pages
  • Strong understanding of PHP back-end development

Plusses

  • Experience working with WooCommerce / other ecommerce platforms in WordPress
  • Experience with WordPress Plugin development
  • Experience with customizing Newsletter templates
  • Gutenberg Block Editor extensions like custom blocks, plugins, and general 
  • Custom tool development 
  • Experience with Google Web technologies – Analytics, Tag Manager, Lighthouse, Search Console
  • Experience with modern Javascript frameworks like React, Angular, Vue
  • Custom development with other CMS systems
  • Knowledge of how to interact with RESTful APIs and formats (JSON, XML)
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools (we use git)
  • Experience with cloud hosting platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, and Heroku
