Claire Messud’s fantastic novel about a righteously (and rightfully) angry woman who is approaching 40 and facing down the fact that life is never going to be the way she thought it would be comes out in paperback on February 4th with a whole new look.

I didn’t love the original cover, but HOO BOY do I hate the paperback. Publishers frequently change cover designs to give paperbacks wider commercial appeal, and I’d guess that’s what is going on here. But this book has teeth! It doesn’t need a soft cover! But that’s just me. Take a look at the competing covers and vote for your preference in the poll below. Have you read The Woman Upstairs? What do you think of these looks?
