Convince Me to Read: ME BEFORE YOU
I am incredibly hesitant about reading brand new books. I get nervous about investing my time in titles that are so new there aren’t usually a ton of reader reviews (which I trust much more than newspaper reviews). Because of that, I’m going to throw out some titles here on Book Riot and see what YOU think of them. I’m going to ask you to convince me to read it (or not to read it), below in the comments. Those of you who have read it will get a chance to say what you think, those of you who are hesitant to read it will get to see what other readers think. Only rule: no spoilers please!
Me Before You by Jojo Moyes
Ok, so this is the love story that looks hokey, but everyone says isn’t. I feel like I already know everything that happens just by reading the flap. We read the book to realize that life (and love) don’t always come to us in the way we think it will… and we end up better people because of it, right? (Or wrong?)
Does this book really have anything else to it? Is there any real depth or is it contrived? Will I cry legitimate tears, or is it like the Sylvan commercials… playing up strongly on the cheese in order to trick you into thinking you’re moved enough to cry, and then you do? (Those damn Sylvan commercials!)
Why should I (and other readers) read this book?
