Books Design and Book Art Boards on Pinterest
Are you as in love with Pinterest as we are here at Book Riot? If you’re not already following us over there, you should. We’re pinning great things, including book lists, book art, bookish goods, and more.
As the Pinner behind Book Riot’s board, I’ve really fallen down the hole of looking for great bookish art and bookish design inspiration. There’s so much neat stuff out there, and so many people have taken the time to share and share with artist credit where possible, that I thought a round-up of some inspiring, fun, and interesting boards relating to books and bookish art would be worthwhile.
Not all of these boards are in English, nor are all of the curators English-speakers. One thing I’ve noticed is that if I want to find bookish art featuring people of color, I have to go to boards by people who are not American or English speaking — and that has quite literally changed the things I see relating to books and reading. A love for books and for reading don’t require a common language.
Start with #junk bookshop — a giant, group Pinterest board dedicated to nothing but bookish things. There are pictures of book piles, like above, bookish memes, great images of libraries, and tons more. There are over 100,000 pins, so it’ll keep you busy for a while.
Typography geek? Love a good ampersand (I do!). This is a big old round-up of all things ampersand is right up your alley.
Books I Love — Sometimes Just For Their Covers
Book cover galleries are probably one of the best reasons to lose hours on Pinterest. This particular collection features mostly vintage style covers. It’s a design paradise.
With over 97,000 followers, this collection of book covers has a little something for everyone: vintage fans, classic fans, illustration fans, and more.
Livres & Lecture (Books, Reading, and Co)
The Livres & Lecture board has a nice mix of photos and art featuring books and people reading. This is another board with a tremendous following — over 170,000 people!
Art featuring people reading? Pretty self explanatory and pretty lovely to look at.
If you’re looking for art and illustrations of reading and readers that run the range of settings, backgrounds, and colors, you can do no better than this board. It has a small following but it deserves way more admirers.
Love bookmobiles? This board is a great collection of bookmobiles from around the world through history.
Bibliotecas, Libros, y Lecturas
Libraries, books, bookstores, and reading — a board with a little bit of something for everyone. I love the eclectic nature.
This particular art of reading board is great not only because it provides artist credit on every image (most of the boards included in this round-up do!) but also because it features so many diverse readers.
One final board for this round-up, this one completely dedicated to book arts. If you love making art out of books or love seeing the sorts of projects others make out of old books, you’ll enjoy this one.
