Always books. Never boring.

Last week, Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros and The Crash by Freida McFadden were at the top of the fiction bestseller lists. They were also the #1 and #2 most-read books on Goodreads that week. This time around, though, they’ve already slipped down the lists, which is a surprise. The reigning authors of the bestseller lists may not be keeping their thrones for long.

There’s only one new title to report in this roundup, and at a glance, you might mistake it for a new romantasy book. It’s actually the 10th-anniversary edition of the historical fiction book The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah, which is a deluxe version with sprayed edges and a ribbon bookmark.

It’s worth noting that lists that include children’s books, especially USA Today, are overflowing with Easter and spring kids’ books this week, like The Very Hungry Caterpillar’s Easter Egg Hunt. Because they’re separated into their own lists by The New York Times and Indie Bestsellers, they don’t have much of a chance of making this roundup.

I Got Abducted By Alience and Now I'm Trapped in a Rom-Com by Kimberly Lemming book cover

This list continues to have a lack of diversity on many levels, including being disproportionately by white authors. Some Indie Bestsellers you should know about are I Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I’m Trapped in a Rom-Com by Kimberly Lemming, James by Percival Everett, and Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer.

To get these numbers, we look at the USA Today overall top 10; Publishers Weekly overall top 10; The New York Times top 10, both Combined Print & E-Book Fiction and Combined Print & E-Book Nonfiction lists; Amazon Charts top 10, both Fiction and Nonfiction; and Indie Bestsellers top 10, Fiction and Nonfiction, both Paperback and Hardcover. New additions to the list this week are bolded.
