Acclaimed novelist and author of the best-selling memoir Wild Cheryl Strayed announced on social media this past Friday that popular clothing website Modcloth is now distributing a “Cheryl Dress” named after, yeah, you’re smart, you guessed right, Strayed!

The description on the site reads:

You’ve come a long way, baby. Named after Cheryl Strayed, author of one of our favorite inspirational books, Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail, this sleek frock is perfect for a confident, successful woman like you, who has found wisdom in the journey and not the destination, knowing “what it [is] like to walk for miles with no reason other than to witness the accumulation of trees and meadows.”

What do we think of the dress? I think it’s mucho cute boots and it’s supes-cool how it echoes Strayed’s author headshot.

Strayed is no stranger to the world of author merchandise. This past Valentine’s Day she revealed that she was the writer behind The Rumpus‘ internet-phenom advice column “Dear Sugar.” As Sugar, Strayed’s words made it onto mugs and a poster, both available at the Rumpus website’s shop.

I personally LOVE this brave new world of author merchandise. Music geeks get their band shirts, cinefiles get their wall-to-wall posters, we bookworms should get our pick of merch too! I have this dream that I walk into Target and instead of seeing Disney Channel show backpacks and light-up sneakers IT’S ALL STUFF INSPIRED BY GOOD BOOKS. I would wear THE SHENANIGANS out of a Where’d You Go, Bernadette backpack. And I would wear those Gone Girl light-up sneakers every day FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE.

While I keep dreaming of a more literary world, I turn the mike over to you and ask what author/book would YOU love to wear something inspired by?

And equally as important, when is REI going to come out with a line of Strayed-inspired hiking boots?
