Welcome to The Best of Book Riot. Here’s your weekend highlight reel of the week’s most popular stories.

I’ve Already Read One of the Best Book Club Books of the Year

Yes, I’m being extra with the title, but only a little, because the book I most recently read for one of my book clubs was so good. It literally hooked me from the first page. With my ADHD-addled brain, this is saying a lot. Not only did it suck me right into the Jazz-filled Harlem of the 1920s, it kept me turning pages. With each date listed at the beginning of its chapters, I was eager to see which Jazz Age legend the main character was going to encounter next. I was able to finish it in only a couple of days, which, again, with my attention span and the myriad of other books I have to read for work and other obligations, is saying something.

The outside world is in literal and figurative flames, but I sometimes find it reassuring to remember that the everyday services are still happening inside my library. We’re hiring for open positions, prepping for the rush of summer reading, and trying to manage our increasingly large holds lists for our patrons. And although this post is primarily a roundup of helpful links for library staff, I hope it can also be a little reminder that mundane things are still happening, even when it feels like a dumpster fire outside. Let ordinary things be refreshing.

15 New Romances to Get You Ready for Spring

If your weather is changing, I hope it’s a hoped-for change. If you’re dealing with the constant change that is happening in other parts of American life right now, I’m hoping these new romances are going to bring you some element of joy.

The Most Read Books on Goodreads This Week

Rebecca Yarros’s dominance over the most-read books on Goodreads continues! Of the top five titles, three are from the Empyrean series. The only change from last week was a swap between the positions of two of the titles. To keep things interesting, I’ve also included the top five titles in three countries across the globe. This time, we’re looking at the books popular with Goodreads users in Malaysia, Mexico, and the Netherlands. But first, let’s take a look at some new books you should know about.
