We all know that books make awesome gifts: they provide hours of entertainment, they’re relatively affordable, and there’s a book for everyone on your holiday shopping list! Plus, books are also very beautiful. Not to throw shade at audio or ebooks, but some books just deserve to be purchased in print because their packaging is a work of art. The Language of Thorns by Leigh Bardugo
This book of short stories set in the Grishaverse is truly a work of art. Not only is the cover beautiful and textured, but the inside featured gorgeous illustrations by Sara Kipin. Each story in this collection has its own illustration along the edges of the pages, which evolves with every page flip. This is the perfect gift for fans of the Grisha trilogy and Six of Crows duology!
The Price Guide to the Occult by Leslye Walton
The cover image here doesn’t do the actual cover justice! This book forgoes the usual dust jacket that adorns most hardcover, and the cover image is printed right on the cover. The book also features gorgeous blood-red page edges, making for a really striking package. Walton is a Morris Award finalist, and this second novel is dark and smart, one of my favorite reads of 2018!
The Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi
I’m a huge sucker for beautiful endpapers. And when those endpapers feature gorgeous fantasy world maps? Swoon. This is one of the biggest fantasy releases of 2018, and the cover is embossed and shiny. Beautiful fantasy book + beautiful end papers = the kind of book I want to display on my shelves!
