Oxford English Dictionary is On the Hunt for Regional Words Worldwide: Critical Linking, June 20

Today’s Critical Linking is sponsored by ME, MYSELF AND THEM by Dan Mooney.

The Oxford English Dictionary is asking the public to help it mine the regional differences of English around the world to expand its record of the language, with early submissions ranging from New Zealand’s “munted” to Hawaii’s “hammajang”.

As a word nerd, I look forward to finding out what they collect.

From one “Girl on Fire” to another, Alicia Keys is narrating Nina Simone’s life story for the Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls audiobook.

Keys has signed on along with Ashley Judd, Rowan Blanchard, and more to bring new voices to Francesca Cavallo and Elena Favilli’s best-selling, Kickstarter-funded book series. Like modern-day fairy tales, Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls and Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls 2 highlight the lives of 200 influential women throughout history, including artists, athletes, activists, and lawmakers.

Would listen!

The biopic about Sammy Davis, Jr. now has been set up at Paramount Pictures, where producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura has his overall deal. The project is on the development fast track, soon to be hiring a writer and a director to make the feature film about the dancer-singer-actor-musician to becoming a reality.

The movie will be based on the memoir Yes I Can: The Story of Sammy Davis, Jr. that he penned with Jane and Burt Boyar.
