I love being scared. Let me amend that statement. I love being scared when the situation is under my control, like a scary movie or a scary book. I REALLY like scary books. And I have read a lot of them. So many that it’s much harder to scare me than it used to be. But the books in this list are all delightfully creepy for when you’re in the mood for goosebumps.

There are a million classic horror novels, so I’ve chosen only contemporary ones to keep it interesting. And by “contemporary” I mean “published this century.” (Of which there has already been eighteen years whut.)

I’ve included a brief description from the publisher with each title. Tell us in the comments about which of these you’ve read or other titles that you love. There are a LOT of them. Yay, books!
