PBS Searches for America’s Favorite Book: Critical Linking, August 1, 2017

PBS announced eight-part series The Great American Read (working title) along with a nationwide campaign that asks readers to choose “America’s best-loved book”, set to launch this spring.

Designed to spark a national conversation about reading and the books that have inspired us, PBS says The Great American Read (wt), includes community reading programs and special events and digital and social media initiatives in addition to the series. It was announced Sunday during PBS’ presentation at the TCA summer press tour.

Smart money is on To Kill a Mockingbird.

Stephenie Meyer, the author and creator of the Twilight saga, is about to dabble in a new world: Television. Starz just picked up the rights to her new show The Rook, which follows the leader of the a supernatural secret service.


AMC announced that Victor LaValle’s The Ballad of Black Tom is in development for television as part of their “scripts-to-series development model that puts the emphasis on the most important part of our strategy – outstanding writing, a commitment to worlds you’ve never seen on TV before, and rich character development.”

A+ will watch.
