IT’S HERE IT’S FINALLY HERE. As most of you know, I’m the resident Archie fangirl here at Book Riot Comics. Archie’s been my homeboy since I before I could read, it feels like. I’ve been up on old Archie, New Archie, Zombie Archie, 90’s In-Real-Life-Old-Archie, and NOW, it’s finally time for The CW Twin-Peaks-Style-#HotArchie!

I live-tweeted the show last night, and was pretty into it. It’s very CW with its gorgeous cast and popping colors, but there’s a dark twist to it with the murder of Jason Blossom kicking off the whole episode. Lots of little jokes for Archie fans, but I will be very curious to see how fans who are new to the Riverdale universe take to it.

Outro: So, there you have it. Riverdale episode one! I did enjoy it though the show gave me pause with a few of their plotting decisions: Archie’s relationship with a teacher is not to be glamorized. That’s statutory rape, period. And I am hoping against hope that they’ll build Jughead into an asexual character by season two. The CW doesn’t always shy away from representation of marginalized folks, so I know I’ll be sharing my hopes with them for an Ace Juggie!

Now tell me, what did you guys think? Sound off in the comments! Let’s talk #HotArchie and Riverdale!
