The Snowman by Raymond Briggs Book Style

The past couple of years, living in Pittsburgh, I have finally been able to live my dream of having a snowy Christmas! Sadly, I don’t have much free time to go out and play in the snow. If I did, you better bet building a snowman would be top of my to do list. While Frosty may be famous, I prefer Raymond Briggs’ The Snowman. Beautiful, colored pencil illustrations make up this wordless storybook. It was adapted into an Academy Award-nominated TV special in 1982.

I do not recommend wearing this particular outfit to make snowmen in, unless those snowmen are made of cookie and frosting. For the main outfit I paired a snowman sweater with snowflake tights and snow guara print skirt (the floral snow guara projects as wintery somehow, and I love it). A pair of fur-lined heeled boots completes the outfit. For the outer layers I chose a down coat that reminds me of the comforting plumpness of the titular snowman paired with a pair of snow-blue mittens. I had to include the iconic green hat and scarf, although, I chose to go with a knit hat over the Snowman’s bucket style. Finally, for the jewelry, a snowflake ring and earrings pair nicely with a snowman necklace and charm bracelet. Now you’re all set to celebrate the holidays in bookish style!

Do you have a favorite snowman book? Do you love this one as much as I do?
