7 Must-Haves to Make Your Home Cozy for Fall Reading

There’s no better time for a reading binge than fall. It’s not too hot, and it’s not so cold that you have to swaddle yourself in blankets and sweaters. Plus there’s something about back-to-school season that makes me want to read non-stop.

So, it’s time to pull out the warm blankets, stock your nightstand with bookmarks, pull your favorite chair up to the fire (or the window, or the bookshelf), and prepare your reading nook for a good old autumn reading bender.

To help you get in the fall reading mood, here are my very favorite bookish home goods.

A duvet that’s also a book.

This duvet is my very favorite bookish blanket ever. It has layers, or “pages” that turn and read like a book. (So if you’re always cold and your partner’s always hot, you can hog most of the pages, without a fight breaking out.) Unfortunately, the maker of the Bedtime Stories duvet is taking a break on Etsy, but hopefully they will be back soon. If we all go over there and show them some love, maybe they’ll come back.

In the meantime, if you want more duvet covers and blankets, check out this list.

This pillow that’s speaking my language.

We’ve written about bookish throw pillows before, but this one from Society 6 pretty much covers my feelings about reading when I’m ensconced in my reading nook.

This gizmo that keeps your book open

Sometimes you’re sitting in a chair with a new book on your lap and the darn thing just won’t stay open, right? Well, this book holder from ThumbThingy keeps the book open for you. I never knew this was something I needed until now.

This totally justified destruction of an HP book

Good lighting is very important, but this Harry Potter lampshade goes beyond good lighting. It’s awesome lighting.

The mug

While there are many awesome reading mugs out there (here’s a list), this one from Etsy most perfectly encapsulates the fall reading binge for me.

Or maybe you like to drink something stronger

I am not in a position to judge.

One more blanket

This throw blanket from Etsy has a page from a spell book on it, so it’s perfect for fall reading and Halloween.

Happy reading!
