Harper Lee Has Died

Harper Lee, beloved author of To Kill a Mockingbird, has passed away at the age of 89 according to one Alabama news source who cite “multiple sources in her hometown.” The mayor’s office of her hometown of Monroeville later confirmed her death to Buzzfeed News, and the New York Times confirmed with her publisher, HarperCollins. A cause of death isn’t mentioned, though Lee had a stroke in 2007 and has been in declining health ever since (a fact which made the recent publication of Go Set a Watchman rife with murky ethical questions).
