Off-Panel: Giving to Good Causes

Our daily round-up of news around the comics space, from the gutters and beyond.

A surprise character from the original trilogy will be in The Force Awakens. That’s all the information I’m giving you because I’m really sensitive about Star Wars spoilers (and I know some of you are too), but there’s no plot context here, just the character name, and the news made my day yesterday.

“If you’re looking for some way to make the world marginally less terrible today, Chip Zdarsky is currently auctioning off some Sex Criminals and Star Wars swag to raise money for Raja Syria, a Canada Cares group aiming to help a Syrian family of seven relocate to Toronto.”

This is pretty awesome.

“Jason Inman, the host of “DC All Access,” launched a donation campaign yesterday in honor of “Giving Tuesday,” with the goal of sending 10,000 comic books overseas to troops by January 1, 2016. He is partnering with the charity organization Comics for Soldiers, and together they have come up with an easy way for anyone to donate.”

Good causes today. It’s soothing to the soul after the horrible violence, day after day.
