Liberty Hardy is an unrepentant velocireader, writer, bitey mad lady, and tattoo canvas. Turn-ons include books, books and books. Her favorite exclamation is “Holy cats!” Liberty reads more than should be legal, sleeps very little, frequently writes on her belly with Sharpie markers, and when she dies, she’s leaving her body to library science. Until then, she lives with her three cats, Millay, Farrokh, and Zevon, in Maine. She is also right behind you. Just kidding! She’s too busy reading. Twitter: @MissLiberty

three moments of an explosionThree Moments of an Explosion: Stories by China Miéville

Holy cats, this collection! What a round-up of unusual, brilliant stories. Some scared me, some grossed me out, some were flat-out too smart for me – I loved them all! Such creative tales: A dig on an island unearths interesting finds; the screenwriter of a controversial film disappears; a medical actor goes off-script; dead bodies start turning like compasses. That’s just the tip of the iceberg. Which reminds me – there’s one about those, too. But these icebergs float in the sky. China Miéville brings to this collection the strange and wonderful storytelling he’s known for, and the results are awesome.
