Our daily round-up of news around the comics space, from the gutters and beyond.
“The first issue of the relaunched “Spider-Man” hits comic stores, tablets and smartphones this fall with more fanfare than a typical new series, because the hero under the mask is Miles Morales, the teen son of an African-American father and Puerto Rican mother.”
I. AM. EXCITE. (Don’t worry, Peter Parker will still be around in a mentor capacity. I’m really curious to see how this plays out.)
“The synopsis assures us that Peritale isn’t your average fairytale. To start with the fairy, named Periwinkle, is the protagonist. The comic will follow her as she tries to “complete a fairytale” in order to win the respect of her peers.”
Consider my interest piqued about this new webcomic.
“We need to talk about the Mad Max: Fury Road Furiosa #1 comic and how awful it is. Huge content notes on this post, like, in big block capitals and neon letters because this issue is triggery and terrible, and really aptly illustrates just how awful MMFR could have been if it were made without intentionally setting aside lazy (and terrible) narratives about women and rape in order to be better than that.”
Uhhhhh what? Well, glad I haven’t gotten to that comic yet.
