Our daily round-up of news around the comics space, from the gutters and beyond.

“This one time, I did a couple of pages in a Wolverine and the X-Men Jam book. It was a fun gig and it paid well. A day or so later I got back the editor’s notes and scanning them, my eye fell on something that alarmed me.”

This piece is gorgeously drawn and hits home the point that if you have to ask “Is this racist?” then it’s probably racist. (Thanks to @case_face for tweeting this to our attention!)

“Those trolls have absolutely not been vindicated, according to sales data on the first four new “Thor” books that began selling last November. Fusion broke down sales figures compiled by ComiChron, and it turns out that feminist Thor is selling significantly better than old school dude Thor.”

YEAH!!! (Also: WHY IS THIS ENDING?? I know Thor will show back up pretty immediately, but…but…)

“Indian digital comics and animation creator Graphic India has raised $2.8 million in its latest seed-financing exercise . . . The financing will be used to create content in English, Hindi, Tamil and other Indian languages for Indian youth to consume on their mobile devices. India has more than 850 active mobile connections and 550 million people under the age of 25.”

We talked a bit about GraphicIndia on the podcast episode about South Asian comics, but it looks like they are going to be producing great comics for the forseeable future.
