Off-Panel: February 20, 2015

Our daily round-up of news around the comics space, from the gutters and beyond.

“Marvel have just revealed a new variant cover for the first issue of Princess Leia, the first standalone comic series for the kickass leader of the Rebel Alliance. Can you spot where Princess Leia is on the cover? Spoilers: You can’t. She’s not there.”

This post basically echoes a conversation we had around the back channels of Panels. So…Princess Leia comic and no women on the variant cover?

“Last month The EastAfrican, a regional newspaper printed in Nairobi, was banned in Tanzania after 20 years of operation.”

A newspaper banned over a cartoon criticizing the Tanzanian president. This shouldn’t be the world we live in, but well, it is.

“Titan Comics revealed today that, in August, their current Tenth Doctor, Eleventh Doctor, and Twelfth Doctor comics series will stop to make way for a five-part weekly series that will bring all three Doctors together for one story, written by longtime Doctor Who fan and writer Paul Cornell.”

Crossover events don’t exactly excite me in comics, but this? They certainly have my attention.
