Stephen King, author of Carrie and The Shining, has said that we don’t challenge ourselves enough while reading. Found in the 2007 book, The Top Ten: Writers Pick Their Favorite Books, King reveals what he likes to read. Certainly not what I expected.

A couple of surprises on Stephen King’s ten favorite books (not at least of which is that it is 100% dude authors)


Perhaps more to the literary point, Danius, who was born in Sweden in 1962, has been writing literary criticism since 1986. She has spent time in the U.S. — at UCLA and the Getty Research Institute in Los Angeles, where she worked on a project about Proust and modernity, and at Duke University, where she studied under Frederick Jameson.

The Nobel gets its first female permanent secretary.
