Kelly Thompson Heads to Kickstarter for New Book, Hits $20,000 Goal in Three Days
I’m a fan of Kelly Thompson.
A blogger for Comic Book Resources and bookish blog LitReactor (who Rebecca frequently links to in our List List round-up), Kelly’s no stranger to using Kickstarter to help her publish. Her first book, The Girl Who Would Be King, raised over $26,000 in 2012, was one of my favorite reads that year.
And now, she’s back on Kickstarter, raising funds for her new book Storykiller. And she hit her goal in 72 hours.
The novel sounds like a lot of fun, focusing on a heroine thrown into a world where stories come to life, and where she’s the only human with the ability to actually kill a story. So of course, stories are coming after her.
She’s managed to wrangle up an all star cast of illustrators to work on the book, with comic book artists the likes of Kris Anka (X-Men), Stephanie Hans (Spider-Man), Rebekah Isaacs (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Meredith McClaren (Adventure Time), Jake Wyatt (Necropolis), and many, many more. You can actually read the first 50 pages on her website, here. Though personally, I’m waiting until I can get my hands on the full book. If it reads anything like her first one… well, let’s just say this book has already skyrocketed to my most anticipated releases list.
