You remember Wishbone, right (the website is so 90s-tastic)? The Emmy award-winning series followed the adventures of Wishbone, a Jack Russell terrier who liked to recreate the adventures of heroes from classic literature. I religiously watched the pup reenact Don Quixote, Huck Finn (Wishbone in that straw hat, I can’t), and The Three Musketeers. That dog is largely responsible for introducing me to the classics in a way I could easily digest while also doing my homework. In a fit of nostalgia, I’ve gathered up some of the best episodes (according to me). Let’s shake a leg and wag another tale:

The Count’s Account (The Count of Monte Cristo)

“Edmond Dantés was as faithful and obedient, as, well…a dog!”

Cyranose (Cyrano de Bergerac)

“I do not need my sword to teach you a lesson! I have…my words!”

A Dogged Exposé (Sherlock Holmes, A Scandal in Bohemia)

“Watson, really. You know how powerful my sense of hearing is.” Get it?

Furst Impressions (Pride and Prejudice)

Wishbone as Darcy is about the cutest thing you’ll ever see.

Hercules Unleashed (Hercules and the Golden Apples)

Wishbone takes on Atlas and various other Greek myths. In a lion’s skin. Like you do.

One Thousand and One Tails (One Thousand and One Arabian Nights)

“I hear you can play INCREDIBLE games on the internet.”

Pawloined Paper (The Purloined Letter)

“Poe’s detective was solving crimes with logical thinking nearly 50 years before Sherlock Holmes arrived in libraries!”
