I’m incredibly hesitant about reading brand new books. I get nervous about investing my time in titles that are so new there aren’t usually a ton of reader reviews (which I trust much more than newspaper reviews). Because of that, I’m going to throw out some titles here, on Book Riot, and see what YOU think of them. I’m going to ask you to convince me to read it (or not to read it), below in the comments. Those of you who have read it will get a chance to say what you think, those of you who are hesitant to read it will get to see what other readers think. Only rule: no spoilers please!
Wild by Cheryl Strayed
I’m not exactly late to this game…I’ve had this book since it was first published, and I actually already started reading it. Ultimately I couldn’t get into the story and ended up putting it down, which was surprising because a) I love this kind of book, and b) I loved Cheryl Strayed before we even knew she was Cheryl Strayed. I never gave the book away because I figured it was one that I would most likely pick up again someday, and probably end up loving – but that hasn’t happened yet.
So, tell me, should I pick it up again and finish? What did you love; what didn’t you love… or were you totally indifferent? Was it overly hyped or hyped just the right amount?
Why should I (and other readers) read this book?
