Born in a swamp in Florida, Ellison Langford was a high school weightlifter and perpetually stressed IB student. She went on to Auburn University to study Journalism and Spanish, and eat her weight in barbecue sandwiches. Somehow she grew up to become a cranky feminist with a denim vest decorated with her favorite ’90s heroines. The Internet is definitely to blame for that. While playing beater for the University of Florida quidditch team, she started a Facebook group for likeminded folks to discuss gender issues within the sport. When not refereeing this group, or playing the “in-and-out” game with her two cats, she is working on a book about women’s contributions to defense production during World War II. She does not recommend writing a book to anyone.
