SpaceX CEO Elon Musk revealed this week that Douglas Adams will be going to space — if in name only. The company’s new Mars-bound spacecraft will be dubbed The Heart of Gold, a tribute to the craft that featured prominently in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
It would also be amazing if SpaceX ever does launch a ship called The Heart of Gold, they leave a petunia and a toy whale on the launchpad after liftoff.
A United States Postal Service spokesperson said more than 70 thousand people in Waco received a copy of a book they did not order. The book, The Great Controversy: Past, Present, Future How Will it End, was written by Ellen G. White in 1911. It is currently published by Remnant Publications and has found its way to many people’s doorsteps all over Waco.
This this is a strange story.
In the New York Times, Michiko Kakutani reviewed a new book about Adolf Hitler, titled “Hitler: Ascent 1889-1939.” To many observers, though, it read like a bit more than a book review. It read like a comparison between Hitler and Donald Trump.
I don’t think I have ever liked Kakutani more.
