Swapna here! Today was a big day at NYCC for all the Panelteers. Some of my own personal highlights:
Yes, that’s Clark Gregg, and he was so close to me I could have touched him. (I didn’t. But I could have.)
My favorite thing of the day: Panelteer Brian as Wesley Crusher. BEST.
Karl Kerschl and Brenden Fletcher show us the cover of Gotham Academy #14!
Panelteers got together for a family dinner!
Yes, that’s Chip Zdarsky wearing a Jughead crown.
I was dressed as Giselle from Enchanted and literally the minute I arrived at the con, a little girl walked up to me, gave me a silent hug, and walked away. It was magical.
The fire service runs through my family, so seeing some of the awesome helmets Marvel collaborated on with the Fire Department of New York really mean a lot to me. The Kaare Andrews Iron Man/Fire Man helmet is really great. And I really liked seeing Phil Jimenez’s pencils depicting Marvel Heroes on a traditional fire helm. The helmets were commissioned to celebrate the FDNY’s 150th Anniversary and the money raised in auctioning off the helmets will be donated to the FDNY’s charitable wing.
Picked up a con exclusive issue #1 of Niobe. It’s co-written by Amandla Stenberg (The Hungers Games film) and Sebastian A. Jones with art by the amazing Ashley A. Woods and layouts by Darrell May. It’s about a young woman of colour who is an elf and was described as a Luke Skywalker type character in her world. I was told that this the first time in history that a comic is being distributed nationally featuring a black female lead with a black female writer and a black female artist. I’m excited to read this! It’s available November 4th.
