My favorite part of award season is the red carpet. I’m sorry, shinny gold awards, but me and my bowl of popcorn and M&M’s are here for the classic black tie, vintage couture, daring to push the fashion envelope, and the straight-up WTF? moments.
My least favorite part of the red carpet is all the repetitive questions. While some celebrities can make any conversation funny I really don’t care who’s dating whom (unless I’ve called dibs on them) or when someone might have a kid. Now if the correspondents were asking the celebrities about their recent reads, or what book adapted to film they’d like to star in, or if they plan on writing a memoir, the Emmys red carpet would be my favorite event of the year. So in honor of Ryan Seacrest talking to Mindy Kaling (Why Not Me?) and Gina Rodriguez (I Can and I Will: Tools My Daddy Gave Me) about their memoirs—we’re going to ignore Andy Samberg’s opening book insult–I’ve decided to accessorize the celebrities at the 67th Emmy awards with books. Hopefully Tim Gunn thinks I made it work.
