Off-Panel: What Do You Need to Know to Start with Superman?

This post originally appeared on Panels, which is now Book Riot Comics

Our daily round-up of news around the comics space, from the gutters and beyond.

“And right on schedule, our Beloved Competition returned from vacation and read their email, and had all kinds of rumors about all this, including a $2 million shortfall in projected budgets, due to added moving costs and low sales, and a call for the “end of Batgirling” in editorial, which is shorthand for new, diverse comics.”

I 100% hope this isn’t the case. After all, these comics have only been out for a couple of months, and newer readers don’t buy in issues, they buy in trades.

“Friends of Bergen Street Comics: After six amazing years Amy and I regret to announce that we will be closing the shop next month.”

This is a sad day in the comics world.

“If it’s been a while since you’ve read a Superman comic, now is probably the time to jump back in. Starting two months ago with the 41st issues of the flagship Superman and Action Comics titles, there is a new status quo for the Man of Steel, who has just had his secret identity outed to the public and his powers drastically reduced.”

I really want to read Yang’s/Romita’s Superman, so I’ll be using this primer for sure.
