Off-Panel: May 8, 2015

This post originally appeared on Panels, which is now Book Riot Comics

Our daily round-up of news around the comics space, from the gutters and beyond.

“Well, it’s taken over 4 months but we’ve finally managed to put together a report of the comic book sales trends for Fantom Comics during 2014! It was a lot of fun crunching these numbers and it’ll be even more fun next year, as 2015 will reflect our first full year at Dupont Circle.”

I love Fantom Comics, a DC-based comic shop (and one I visit regularly). This is fascinating.

“Over 250 full color pages. More than 40 incredibly talented creators, 27 amazing stories, 1 beautifully designed over-sized hardcover. But above all: a comic book experience you won’t find anywhere else!

All wrapped in a stunning cover by Spider-Gwen’s Robbi Rodriguez, the Broken Frontier Anthology is beautifully designed and assembled with the highest production value. Larger than a standard graphic novel, the book’s 11.2”x7.6” format allows the amazing artwork and stories to leap off the page.”

I love comics anthologies because they allow you to find new creators/writers/artists/etc. you love with limited $ investment. You can bet I backed this on Kickstarter; that hardcover looks like it’ll be gorgeous.

“Marvel Studios has commenced principal photography at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta, Georgia on “Captain America: Civil War,” the third installment of its Super Hero franchise.”

This cast list is insane.
